As I said in this post, I usually don’t like Sundays. I have this eternal anxiety about it. So two Sundays ago, I was (trying) to relax and write my personal statement for my master’s application when Dennis convinced me to go with him and our friends to these ‘upcoming bands’ concert at Muffathalle.
Even though I got to sleep less than 5 hours, it was worth it. There were 4 bands in total. The first one, Mighty Oaks, was amazing. I really like this style of music (a little folky) and the guys were super friendly.
The second band, Young Galaxy, didn’t convince me at first. The singer is a bit weird and I couldn’t really understand her words in the first two songs. However, the other songs were super involving and pretty awesome. Do you know that feeling of ‘nope, you’re not good’ and then all of sudden you’re totally enjoying the whole thing? That’s what happened. Her weirdness just added to the cool music they made.
The third one, Claire, is tricky to judge. Dennis really liked their songs, I just thought the band was too much. Too loud, too many of their friends going crazy in the audience (they’re from Munich) and the girl was also a little too much. This may sound old school, but I like when there are ‘real’ instruments on the stage and not only electronic stuff.
The fourth band, Chvrches, was the main one of the night. They’re from Scotland. The music was good and I might get tons of reprisals for saying this, but they didn’t ‘touch’ me. The girl is super cool (very hipster though), but it is not the type of music that would ‘move’ me (like the first band).
I would def. say it was worth the lack of sleep on Monday. It was a super cool evening and something we don’t do really often.

A segunda banda, Young Galaxy, não me convenceu no começo.
A terceira banda, Claire, é complicado julgar.
